Hulu + Live TV Review

Provider overview

• The live television tier of Hulu, fully owned by The Walt Disney Company: a cable-style lineup with cloud DVR, and every live plan sold as of Oct 12, 2026 includes Disney+ and ESPN Select. No other live TV streamer on our list folds this much on-demand content into one bill.
• Disney's combination of Hulu + Live TV with Fubo closed in late 2025, giving Disney a roughly 70 percent stake in the combined business; the two remain separate products with separate prices and lineups, so we review Fubo separately.
• The standalone Hulu app is being folded into Disney+; hulu.com redirects to disneyplus.com, the plan page lives at disneyplus.com/hulu, and the viewing experience is shifting toward the Disney+ interface.
• Distinct for breadth rather than price: it is not the cheapest live option nor the one with the most streams, which explains most of its ranking.

• Weakest: value 5. The base plan is among the most expensive live TV plans we track and rose again in October 2026. Disney+ and ESPN Select would cost extra elsewhere, but a household that only wants live channels pays for libraries it may not use, and the two-stream cap pushes a family needing a third stream to the Unlimited Screens add-on.
• Strongest: content 9. Four major broadcast networks in most markets, ESPN and TNT, deep cable entertainment, and the Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN Select libraries behind one login.
• Devices 10: apps on every platform we check, including both consoles.
• Interface 7 and quality 7: capable app that has historically felt slower than YouTube TV's; 4K live channels unconfirmed.
• Support 7 based on published help resources and chat; no hands-on testing of response times.

Main features

• Unlimited cloud DVR, nine-month retention, fast-forward through recorded ads; matches YouTube TV and far exceeds Sling's fifty hours. Series-based recording, including live sports by team name.
• Two concurrent streams by default, the lowest among the five live services we review; Unlimited Screens lifts the home limit and raises the away-from-home allowance.
• Profiles with separate recommendations and history; the live guide filters by category.
• Bundled app features: downloads on Disney+ Premium, ESPN's streaming-only events and library, and Hulu next-day ABC, FOX, and NBC episodes.
• 4K live channels not confirmed; ESPN simulcasts inside the ESPN and Disney+ apps are separate from the Hulu + Live TV guide.

Channel lineup and content categories

• Secondary sources put the lineup at 95 to 100-plus channels as of Oct 12, 2026; Disney's plan page publishes no hard count, hence "95+" on our plan cards.
• Locals: ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX in most markets, by ZIP code. Sports: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, SEC Network, and ACC Network in the base plan (Monday Night Football, ESPN's NBA slate, college football); TNT, TBS, and truTV (NHL on TNT, MLB on TBS, March Madness); FS1 and FS2; NFL Network in the base lineup, NFL RedZone via the Sports add-on.
• Regional sports are the weak spot. Per our sports availability research (verified Oct 12, 2026, re-check by Jan 10, 2027), NBC Sports regional networks are carried in select markets but FanDuel Sports Networks are not, so many local MLB, NBA, and NHL broadcasts are unavailable. NBA TV, MLB Network, and NHL Network did not appear in the 2026 lineup lists we reviewed; we treat their status as unconfirmed, not absent. Supported devices

• Apps on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV and Google TV, Chromecast, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation, iOS, Android, and web browsers: the full set we check, and one of only two live TV streamers (with YouTube TV) to support both consoles.
• Caveat: as Hulu content moves into Disney+, the app you use for live channels may change, and older smart TVs lacking a current Disney+ app could be affected.

Subscription requirements

• Disney account, U.S. billing address, and a payment method (cards and PayPal typically; some app store billing possible).
• Live TV requires a home location, since locals and the guide are tied to your ZIP code. Hulu's terms expect periodic viewing from the home network, limit how often the home location can change, and allow away-from-home streaming on mobile with different limits for TV devices; these checks enforce local broadcast rights and apply to every live TV streamer.
• Pricing did not vary by ZIP in the sources we checked, but channel availability does, so sign-up asks for your ZIP first. Taxes added at checkout.
• U.S. residents only; VPN use violates the terms.

Cancellation considerations

• No contract; cancel from the account page on the web. Access continues to the end of the billing period; partial months are not refunded.
• Subscribed through an app store or carrier bundle? Cancel there; the Hulu account page cannot end a subscription it does not bill. Deleting the app does not cancel.
• A short trial has been reported for eligible new subscribers but was not on the plan page we checked; if offered, it converts to paid automatically, so note the end date.
• You can switch to a cheaper on-demand-only Hulu plan instead of canceling, keeping your watch history. Our cancellation and billing guide has the steps for each billing route.

Ideal customer profile

Subscribe if:

• You want one bill covering live locals, ESPN and TNT sports, and the Hulu and Disney+ libraries.
• Your household has children who use Disney+ regularly.
• Two simultaneous streams are enough.
• You value a large DVR with long retention. Families who would otherwise pay for Hulu, Disney+, and live TV separately get the most from this bundle.

Look elsewhere if:

• You need three or more streams without an add-on.
• Your main reason for live TV is a local MLB, NBA, or NHL team on a FanDuel Sports Network.
